Natural Park Hosts
In the natural park of the southern Black Forest, hoteliers and caterers have joined forces in order to quasi present their guests the phantastic nature experience of our region in wonderful meals. A "natural park host" offers at least three regional main dishes throughout the entire year. Regional means that the main ingredients for the dishes come from the natural park. To find out about the origin of the products, take a look at the menu or simply ask our friendly service staff. The natural park hosts are closely connected to their landscape, culture and traditions. They believe in using local products because they are convinced that our unique Black Forest landscape can only be obtained if a close cooperation between manufacturers, caterers and guests exists.All can benefit of the cooperation:
• the farmers, butchers and bakers can ensure their subsistence by selling the products,
• the caterers gain high quality and fresh food
• and you as our guest can experience the distinctive taste of traditionally prepared dishes.
The natural park covers an area of 3.700 square kilometers and so is as large as the holiday island Mallorca. Our natural park ranges from Loerrach to Emmendingen and from Villingen-Schwenningen to Waldshut. It is financed by 110 cities and communities, the urban and rural districts, the regional council of Freiburg as well as numerous clubs and associations. The goal of the natural park is to maintain and develop the exemplary recreation landscape, the uniquenes, the diversity and elegancy of the southern Black Forest.
The natural park sets value on the coordination of the apparently differing interests of the various actors in the area of nature conservation, agriculture, forestry, settlement development and tourism.
They created an great range of hiking trails, mountain bike paths and cross country tracks that to a great extent fulfill the criteria of sustainable tourism.
